The Raveonettes - Dead Sound

The Raveonettes have been around for ever. While they never really took off in America, they received mild success in Europe. Their soon to be released Lust Lust Lust is good, and pretty fucking catchy. The band sticks to it's roots by using late 50's pop vocal melodies, and lots of guitar. I have been told that the audio engineer for the album made it with the intention of the album to be played really loud. I can totally see that. Dead Sound is just dying to be blasted, with its pop choruses and heavy distortion. I think the band did the right thing with the more home brewed approach to this album, seeing as their last album was a critical flop. I have also included a remix of Dead Sound by Peter Holmstrom and Jeremy Sherrer, which I think is pretty spectacular. The remix cuts back on the heavy distortion, adds a nice electro beat reminiscent of the Postal Service, and increases the length. Dare I say that I like the remix more?
