So one of my favorite things ever is when a great artist redoes a classic, and it is simply spectacular. The Rolling Stones have had a plethora of spectacular songs, and one of my fav's has got to be Wild Horses. I guess I like surprising chillness that the song can bring, and I am in a sort of late night mood.
Today we have several covers, first of which is by Sheryl Crow. Sheryl decided to go acoustic with just a piano and her beautiful voice. I love the intensity she puts into it. Very nice. Another interesting cover is from the Iron and Wine/Calexico tour. Of course this version is a little bit country (can you say slide guitar?). I also love the use of the vibes! The final cover is by a jazz musician named Tim Ries. He created a whole cd of Stones covers, and he does his best to make them into "modern jazz". I think he has a 50% success rate.
